The Princess of Wales’ Children Didn’t Visit Her during Her Two-Week Post-surgery Hospital Stay — Details

The Princess of Wales’s children did not visit her during her hospital stay. Princess Catherine had been hospitalized for 13 days after undergoing abdominal surgery.

While Princess Catherine was recovering from her operation at The London Clinic, her kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—did not come to see her. However, according to a news outlet that mentioned Kensington Palace’s hospitalization statement, this was intentional.

In the official announcement from Kensington Palace, the message mentioned that the Princess of Wales wanted to maintain as much normalcy for her children as possible. However, the doting mom kept in contact with them via FaceTime.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said that she feels that Princess Catherine didn’t want “to make more of a big thing of it than it already was.” Ingrid then stated that following the Princess’ discharge from the hospital, her children will be “rallying ’round in their own way and helping to look after her.”

Another reported reason for Prince George and his siblings’ absence is that The London Clinic does not generally allow the visitation of children unless with authorization from the hospital. This is done to ensure the safety of patients.

Reports state that Princess Catherine is continuing her recuperation at Adelaide Cottage, a private residence close to Windsor Castle owned by the royal family. Such has also been confirmed by another official statement from Kensington Palace, which stipulated that the Princess is recovering at Windsor, where she has been reunited with her beloved kids.

Before she was discharged from The London Clinic, Princess Catherine’s doting husband, Prince William, had cleared his schedule to ensure he remained at his wife’s side. He also did so to support and be there for their kids and other family members.

On Prince William’s supportive endeavors, the author of “The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy,” Robert Hardman, divulged, “We know they are a very tight family unit, and he wants to be there for them.”

Robert explained that many of the decisions Princess Catherine and Prince William make as parents are to give their children as much of a normal life as their titles allow.

As previously reported on January 29:

Another part of the announcement read, “The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.”

At the end of the statement, the Royal family expressed their deep gratitude to the countless well-wishers worldwide who prayed and sent goodwill to the Princess and her family. The celebratory news comes just under two weeks after communication from Kensington Palace first made the public aware of Princess Catherine’s hospitalization and abdominal surgery.

Based on the recovery timeline given in that first statement concerning how long the Princess was expected to stay at The London Clinic, Princess Catherine is on track to making a full recovery. However, as it stands, she will still only resume her royal obligations — as the first statement mentioned — after Easter.
